Thomas E. Carey passed away on August 11 at the age of 80 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida in hospice care. A resident of Osprey, Florida, he was 80 years old. Born on Jan. 14, 1932 to the late Cornelius and Kathleen Carey, of Garden City, NY, Carey was a graduate of Chaminade High School and Fordham University in New York City with honors.
He was married to his wife Ellen in 1960 and is the father of Melissa Hyland (Jim) and has two grandchildren.
Carey spent his career career in non-ferrous metals, involving both mining and commodities trading, required extensive travel worldwide and included a residency for 2 years in Tokyo, Japan.
Funeral services were held at the Church of the Redeemer.
