Tom was born in 1929 at Stewart Manor, NY. In 1948 he graduated from Chaminade High School in Mineola, NY.
After high school he served in the Army. When Tom's term of service ended he went to Colgate University studying economics and history, and was awarded his degree in 1954. He was class president this senior year at Colgate.
During the 1950s Tom worked on Wall Street calculating stock prices. The apex of his career was when he worked for Proctor and Gamble from 1958 to the early 1980s. Tom worked in sales and marketing for P&G. During his tenure at P&G Tom lived in Boston, Milwaukee and was finally transferred to Atlanta.
After he retired from P&G, Tom worked in real estate. He moved to Hilton Head in the early 1990s and continued to work in real estate. For the last six years Tom worked for Publix on Palmetto Bay Rd.
He is survived by a brother, Harry Thumser, of Boston MA. Tom was a lifelong lover of knowledge, every day he read several newspapers. Furthermore, he was also a lifelong reader of literature, politics and history. All who knew him will miss him greatly.
