Awarding Badges to Girl Scouts for ‘Power to Learn’

Assemblywoman Schimel awards Girl Scouts for role in internet smarts.

I recently helped celebrate the 100th anniversary of Girls Scouts USA. At the event, 40 Girl Scouts were rewarded for their active role in Cablevision’s Power to Learn Internet Smarts activity.

The Girls Scouts received new Internet Safety Fun Badges, for their participation in the program. The badges were earned digitally, after learning about cyberbullying, and the dangers of social networking sites. At the event, Troop 1384 Gold Award Recipient Lind Mule made a presentation on Internet Safety.

As noted in the Girl Scout Promise, the Girl Scouts do their best to make the world a better place. I’d like to congratulate all the scouts here today for tackling a subject that is timely and important.

Michelle Schimel is the New York State Assembly representative for the 16th Assembly District. She was first elected in a Special Election held on March 27, 2007.

I do not know what you mean by a "senior building." Please be more specific. If you areRead More talking about the Winston-Churchill project and not a senior assisted living facility, we have a small update here: http://mineola.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/flood-mitigation-apartment-projects-moving-forward
