On the occasion of Thanksgiving I am grateful for the patriotic and selfless Americans who are doing good and keeping us safe both at home and abroad.
As Americans we have much to be grateful for, even as this year’s Thanksgiving holiday also falls against the backdrop of much hardship for many of us and our friends both here and abroad.
Many are still struggling to recover after Hurricane Sandy, and the rebuilding process will be long and arduous. Our closest ally in the Middle East, Israel, has recently had its civilians targeted by hundreds of rockets from Hamas and other terrorist groups, and even a bus bombing in Tel Aviv. And our servicemembers and diplomatic corps continue to serve in dangerous areas all over the globe, all in the name of love for our country and our shared values.
I’m grateful for the patriotic and selfless Americans who are doing good and keeping us safe, from storm-ravaged communities all over Long Island to the frontlines of battle around the world. To all of my constituents in the Fourth Congressional District, thank you for all you do and have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
