Letter to the Editor: Enough is Enough
Mineola PTA representatives submitted the following letter.
Board of Education Trustees traditionally work in harmony with our PTAs. This week our beloved Co-Presidents were threatened with legal action by Board of Education .
Having said at Meet the Candidates Night that our student’s advancement suffered from the lawsuits of recent years, trustee McGrath then threatened legal action against our PTA District Council Co-Presidents. The cause? He doesn’t like PTA members' avatars; a picture showing their choice.
PTA is a national organization, not an object for micromanagement by any board of education trustee. Mr. McGrath chose to use his position as an attorney to threaten them with legal action. An action, in our view, that would be an attempt to strip them of their constitutional right to free speech and expression.

How much longer will the voters of our district allow Mr. McGrath to block our voices and stand in the way of educational progress and fiscal responsibility?
Please make your opinion known by voting, May 15, 2012.
