Mineola Junior Fire Department visits the New York States Firemens Home

The Mineola Junior Fire Department for the past 11 years has been making an annual trip up to the Firemen’s Home at Hudson New York in the lower Catskill Mountains. This time of year is when the home celebrates Long Island Day. Firefighters from both Nassau and Suffolk Counties were there to honor the firefighters living at the home on a sunny and pleasant day. After a short parade a presentation was given by the President of the Firemen’s Association of New York and the trustees of the home who come from all over the state representing their departments. As in the past the Mineola Junior Fire Department was there to give a donation to the home. The firemen’s homes Director John O’Connell was on hand to receive the donation from Mineola Junior Firefighters Captain Daniel Dempsey, Lieutenants Chase Pagnani, Brendan Corrigan, and Jonmichael Schiavone. Over 200 junior firefighters from Nassau and Suffolk County were present to help celebrate and greet the residents of the home. The Director John O’Connell made it a point to state that the junior’s firefighters were the future of the volunteer fire service. Everyone present enjoyed the days festive with entertainment from the Comanche Raiders Family Band.
