Mineola Mayor's Message: Concert in the Park and Water Safety

Mayor Scott Strauss remarks on the Memorial Park concerts.

The following are the opening remarks of Mineola made during the public meeting of the on July 11, 2012:

Last Friday, Lou Panacciulli and the Nassau Pops Orchestra put on a at . The solo vocalists were absolutely amazing. Following last Friday’s concert we celebrated the birth of our country with a . There were hundreds of people enjoying the show. A big thank you to Mr. (Joseph) Scalero, Mr. (Tom) Rini and the department of public works in getting the park prepped and everything that they did before and after the fireworks display.

This evening trustee Cusato and I attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for at 258 Herricks Road. I welcome them to Mineola and wish them the best of luck. And now that we’re entrenched in the summer season I ask that on the hot days we look after our elderly neighbors and make sure that they’re OK and make sure that they are hydrated as best as we possibly can. And as you head to the , your pool, your friend’s pool or the beach, please watch over your children, please follow basic safety water guidelines.

We’ve already seen and heard of several tragic related water incidents and we don’t want to have any others. If we can all be a little bit more diligent, maybe we can save a life or two.
