Remembering Neil Armstrong

Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy issued the following after the passing of the first man to set foot on the Moon.

As a sponsor of the Long Island Aviation History Act that recognizes, among other local accomplishments, the local building of Neil Armstrong's lunar module, I want to say that Mr. Armstrong was a true American hero who united the nation in pride as we watched him take his “giant leap for mankind.”

Long Islanders especially take great pride in his historic achievement, having taken part in the building of so many of NASA's spacecraft over the years.

As we mourn Mr. Armstrong's passing, we also celebrate his contributions, and carry on his legacy in our continued efforts in space, most recently demonstrated by the amazing Mars exploration rover Curiosity.

Carolyn McCarthy is the representative of New York’s Fourth Congressional District. She was first elected in 1996.

He never did get his Oscar for best performance in a government sponsored film. Dead men tell no tales...soon all of the people involved will be dead...I hope the truth is told before that happens. It is odd that the Russians follow or lead in all space exploration....why is it that they never went to the moon?

I do not know what you mean by a "senior building." Please be more specific. If you areRead More talking about the Winston-Churchill project and not a senior assisted living facility, we have a small update here: http://mineola.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/flood-mitigation-apartment-projects-moving-forward
