Round and around the Roundtable

Dear Roundtable members,

Quietskies.net needs your help so that we can help you. Please let me know if you support the following efforts and whether you would likely attend a private meeting of roundtable members to discuss strategy.

Here are some of the things that we need to get done.

1-We have been trying to get the PANYNJ to include 55 dnl contours and excel sheets for the recently completed EA for the rebuild of the LGA terminal and, despite at least 3 exchanges of emails, we seem to be no closer then when we started. These contours are very important because we expect that the final part 150 contours and those for the part 150 will be very much the same. In fact, if the FAA continues their approach of keeping new procedures secret, then the Part 150 study results will look just like the EA results except that the Part 150 should use a full year of TNNIS in the base year.

2-The part 150 study requires that only 65, 70, and 75 contours be included in the study with other contours being optional. The PANYNJ rejects the idea of contours not specifically called out in the Part 150 study check list yet includes 60 DNL contours in the RFQ for the Part 150. Even though the FAA part 150 expert agreed with me that 55 DNL contours can be provided, the PANYNJ still rejects the idea that 55 is allowed. For the life of me I do not understand why they are fighting this especially since the Harvard School of Public Health reported that 55 dnl is the threshold for noise impact on cardiovascular disease.

3-Governor Cuomo directed the PANYNJ to do the Part 150 study in  Nov 2013, there was a follow press release in March 2014 and we have still yet to: form the roundtable; hire someone to direct the study from within the PANYNJ; give a contract for the study; involve citizens in the technical side of the part 150 process; or see a schedule, if there is one.

We/I don't mind doing the technical and legislative legwork and research but  must know that you support what we are doing and will stand up at the round table meetings and say so. If we can't get your support for the simplest and clearest of issues then this is all a charade and a waste of time.
