Sponsoring Second Annual Legislative Food Drive

Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel collecting items for families affected by Hurricane Sandy.

I am partnering with Long Island Cares to sponsor the second annual Legislative Food Drive in the 16th Assembly District to help meet the needs of the 300,000-plus food insecure Long Islanders and the unexpected need of the families affected by Superstorm Sandy.

Needed items include non-perishable foods, personal care items, baby diapers, pet food, paper goods, new blankets and household cleaning supplies.

Items can be dropped off from now untilMarch 31 at Assemblywoman Schimel’s District Office located at 45 North Station Plaza, Suite 203 in Great Neck.

Collection boxes are also available at the following locations:

  • Great Neck Senior Center located at 80 Grace Ave.
  • Herricks Community Center located at 999 Herricks Road
  • Port Washington Community Chest located at 382 Main St.

Michelle Schimel is the New York State Assembly representative for the 16th Assembly District. She was first elected in a Special Election held on March 27, 2007.

I'm sorry Marie but there is no information about when the project will actually start. TheRead More developer had requested an extension from the board at a previous meeting and we do not know of a firm start date. When we do receive one, we will most certainly publish it.
