At Least 800 Still Without Power in Mineola Tuesday Afternoon

Outages decrease substantially since weekend.

About 840 customers in Mineola are still without power as of 12 p.m. Monday afternoon after Hurricane Sandy barreled through Long Island according to LIPA figures.

The utility changed its outage map following numerous reports of erroneous outage reporting, in many cases the number of outages exceeding the number of people served. The new map also does not show the locations of crews in the areas.

According to LIPA, a total of 837 customers in Mineola were still without electricity, down from 4,356 this past weekend. In Williston Park 1,804 are powerless, down from 4,954. East Williston has 263, down from 1,796 while 183 homes in Albertson are without electricity, an increase of three.

To report an outage to LIPA, call 1-800-490-0075 or text 'REG' to 695472 (myLIPA) and then 'OUT.' For more important emergency contacts, tips and links, click here.

I'm sorry Marie but there is no information about when the project will actually start. TheRead More developer had requested an extension from the board at a previous meeting and we do not know of a firm start date. When we do receive one, we will most certainly publish it.
