Body Found on Willis Avenue Tracks

Apparent electrocution while attempting to cross tracks.

The body of a man identified as John Salerno of Glen Head was found Aug. 16 in Mineola laying on the Number Two track of the Long Island Rail Road's Oyster Bay branch line near 85 Willis Ave. The scene of the fatality is close to where the Oyster Bay branch joins the Main Line track at the Mineola train station. Trains on the main line have not been affected as power to the Oyster Bay line was cut so police could step onto the tracks in order to investigate the area where the body was found.

Police say that a report of a body on the tracks was received at about 10:25 a.m.  Salerno, 72, reportedly came into contact with the third rail and suffered a fatal electrocution but MTA Police said the official cause of his death is still under investigation.

I'm sorry Marie but there is no information about when the project will actually start. TheRead More developer had requested an extension from the board at a previous meeting and we do not know of a firm start date. When we do receive one, we will most certainly publish it.
