Car Bursts into Flames at Dunkin' Donuts

Early Sunday morning, a driver smelled smoke in his van and immediately pulled off the road and into the parking lot of the on Jericho Turnpike at Herricks Road in  Garden City Park at about 11:30 a.m.

The van burst into flames exposing the donut shop with the employees and customers inside to the flames.

The Mineola Fire Department was alerted and responded to the scene with the fire was quickly extinguished. Firefighters from Garden City Park and Williston Park also responded to the scene. One firefighter was reported injured from falling but no other injuries were reported.

The fire caused about $5,000 to $7,000 in damage to the van.
