Police: Crash Sends Parked Car into Home

A car crash on Livingston Avenue sent a parked car into a home, leaving minor damage.

Update (10:00 a.m. on 11/30): Suffolk County Police have confirmed an unknown person in another vehicle did strike a car in the rear, pushing it 200 feet north on Livingston Avenue last night.

The first vehicle fled the scene northbound on Livingstone Avenue and there have not been any arrests at this time.

Original Story (11/29): An apparent car crash left one vehicle badly damaged and thrown into a home on Livingston Avenue in Babylon Village on Thursday evening.

According to eyewitnesses on scene, an SUV came northbound on Livingstone Avenue at a high rate of speed and crashed into the back of a parked Toyota car. Eyewitnesses said the SUV pushed the Toyota along the roadway some 300 feet before the car jumped a curb at Beverly Road, hitting the eastern side of a home on the corner there.

The SUV, according to eyewitnesses, sped from the scene, leaving behind a trail of leaking oil.

A resident of the house hit was home at the home. He reported hearing the initial crash and then felt the home shake a little.

Damage to the home was reportedly minor in nature – the resident said there was no apparent damage to the home's foundation and some ruined paneling. The car suffered major damage to its rear section, leaving much of the trunk crushed, and the front left, pinned against the home on Beverly Road.

Babylon Fire Department crews and officers from the Suffolk County Police Department responded to the scene.

We are awaiting more information and confirmation from the Suffolk County Police Department – we will update this story when more information becomes available.

Livingston should dead end into Sunrise Hwy. Its a cut thru like Woodrow Pkwy and speeders continue to drive like *^*^$%heads. Great way to stay off the main roads while DUI'ing it out of Town

we live on Woodrow Parkway and the speeding the cars, cabs, trucks is unreal. Many drivers use this for a shor cut. The same is true for Livingston. That is a good idea Seadog24 to dead end Livingston at Sunrise Hwy. It might save a life or two.
