Crimes Nearby: Ecstasy, Underage Rape and Stolen Car

A look at crimes in the towns surrounding Mineola.

The following arrest information was supplied by several local police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

New Hyde Park

Two pedestrians were struck on Marcus Avenue on February 14. One of the pedestrians was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained.

Pennsylvania State Police have arrested a New Hyde Park man for allegedly raping a 15-year-old female. According to Pennsylvania State Police, Frank R. Neglia, 46, allegedly provided alcohol to an underage female during a sweet sixteen party at the Neglia residence in Reflection Lakes Equinunk, Wayne County on July 23-24, 2011. He was arrested in Nassau County on violation of a probation and extradited to Pennsylvania on February 13.

Westbury

A car overturned near the interchange of the Wantagh State Parkway and Northern State Parkway in Westbury on February 11. The Westbury Fire Department responded to the scene of the rollover. There was no entrapment. The extent of injuries was unknown.

A woman was abducted in Westbury on February 14 out of a doctor’s office at about 5:25 p.m. The suspect is a male Hispanic approximately 5’5” and was seen driving a green 1998 Cherokee.

Garden City

Garden City detectives arrested a male 22-year-old from Fresh Meadows for possession and sale of MDMA (Ecstasy) on New Hyde Park Road on February 7.

A safe was removed from a Sixth Street residence on February 7. Doors to the residence were found unlocked. There was no sign of forced entry.

Malverne-West Hempstead

A car that had been parked on Poplar Street in West Hempstead was stolen on February 11.

Between February 6 and February 7, two victims in Franklin Square reported that items had been stolen from their cars while they were parked on Madison Avenue. In one case, the perpetrator inflicted damage on the vehicle even though it was unlocked.

Two tires and rims were stolen off a car parked on Clafin Boulevard in Franklin Square on February 7.

Four tires and rims were stolen off a vehicle on February 8 while it was parked in the driveway of a home on Amethyst Street in Elmont.
