The following arrest information was supplied by several local police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

Mineola

Two Hispanic men threatened a Mineola resident Tuesday night, pointing a handgun at his head as he sat in his car, according to Nassau Police.

A 59-year old man was hit by a car on Jericho Turnpike near Nassau Boulevard on Thursday afternoon in Mineola according to Nassau County Police.

New Hyde Park

An 53-year old Elmont woman was killed west of the New Hyde Park Long Island Railroad station Sunday afternoon near the Covert Avenue at-grade crossing.

Old Westbury

All eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway were closed at Exit 40 due to an overturned truck on Aug. 19 at about 2:25 p.m. The HOV lane was reopened at about 4 p.m. The remaining lanes were reopened at about 10:37 p.m.

Hicksville

Two pedestrians were struck at 380 Woodbury Road on Aug. 22 at 7:35 p.m. Both were transported to Nassau University Medical Center, one to trauma and one for minor injuries.

A Wyandanch man was arrested for a robbery that occurred in Hicksville on Saturday, Aug. 24 at 4:30 a.m. According to detectives, Nilson Lagos Rivera, 19, while at a residence on 3rd Street, became involved in a heated verbal argument with his friend over a bicycle pad lock key owned by the victim, 28, that the defendant wanted. The two men had locked their bicycles together on a nearby street earlier in the evening, and the defendant now wanted the key from the victim in order to retrieve his bicycle. Before the victim could respond, the defendant picked up a kitchen knife from the counter and began slashing the victim with the knife. Rivera allegedly then took the victim’s keys and ran out of the residence. The victim, who sustained multiple lacerations to his fingers, arms, head and shoulder, was taken to a local hospital by private auto, where he was treated and released. Officers arrested Rivera on Aug. 24. He is being charged with first degree robbery and will be arraigned on Sunday, Aug. 25 in First District Court in Hempstead.

Garden City

Officers responded to a one-vehicle accident on Franklin Avenue south of 7th Street on Aug. 14 The vehicle struck a light pole and a fire hydrant before overturning. The driver, a male 24-year-old from Mineola, was injured and transported to a local hospital. He was also cited for driving with no license, and suspended privileges.

A locked bicycle was reported stolen from a bike rack located on the south side of the Merillon Avenue train station on Aug. 17.

Garden City detectives, arrested two subjects on Aug. 19 who had stolen four pairs of designer sun glasses valued at $610 from Lord & Taylor. The subjects, a male 50-year-old and a male 51-year-old, both from Hempstead, had fled the store after the thefts, but were apprehended by the officers on Franklin Avenue. Upon investigation, both subjects were found to be in possession of more than $500 in stolen property from the Garden City Walgreens. The male 50-year-old was also charged with an outstanding Nassau County petit larceny warrant.
