Crimes Nearby: Identity Theft, Lured Child and Burglaries

The following arrest information was supplied by several local police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

Two females and two males are wanted in connection with incidents of identity theft in New Hyde Park according to . The first case involved a falsified check for over $6,200 cashed at a local bank, while a second incident occurred in the Bronx. Police are asking for information regarding the identiy of the individuals.

• The Garden City Police Department is investigating a suspicious incident which occurred on September 8 where a black mini van type vehicle reportedly stopped and asked a 7-year-old boy if he wanted to get in the vehicle to see his puppies and kittens. The driver is described as a male white, middle aged, very thin with black hair.
• Officers responded to a Franklin Avenue business for a report of a larceny of a pocketbook where the subject, described as a black male, was seen running from the building into another nearby building. Officers searched the area. The subject was not located but an officer did recover the pocketbook and the subject’s shirt. $30 was missing from the pocketbook.
• A resident reported on September 12 that someone had removed $10,000 from his account by using a fraudulent ATM card.

Several Franklin Square businesses were burglarized on the nights of September 7-8, including Prince Umbertos Pizza and Bagels on the Square, which was hit twice.
