Crimes Nearby: Police Assault, Illegal Massage Parlor and Robber’s Return

A look at crimes in the towns surrounding Mineola.

The following arrest information was supplied by several local police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

Mineola

Three units were called tot eh rear of the Nassau County Legislative building on December 5 at about 2:08 p.m. A hearing on the Long Island Bus was occurring at the time.

Garden City detectives arrested a male 27-year-old from Hempstead on December 3 for using forged credit cards to purchase $7,000 in gift cards from Lord & Taylor. The investigation also led to a search of the subject’s residence where detectives discovered computers and several other devices used to manufacture fake credit cards and identification cards.

Two Garden City officers were assaulted by a 51-year-old Hempstead man on December 3 after stopping him for suspicious behavior first initially observed on Prospect Street. The subject fought with the officers causing injuries to one officer’s back and the other officer’s knee. He was charged with two counts of assault and resisting arrest.

Malverne-West Hempstead

A man fitting the same description as a suspect in Monday's attempted robbery in West Hempstead in South Farmingdale less than an hour later. Nassau County Police reported that a black male suspect attempted to rob the Roslyn Savings Bank in West Hempstead at 1:08 p.m. Monday. Less than one month ago, on Nov. 14, a man, fitting the same description an undisclosed amount of cash from the same bank and is believed to be responsible for another bank robbery in Freeport.

Two people were arrested on Nov. 30 at a spa in Franklin Square after Nassau County's POP Office and Vice Squad . 

Two homes were burglarized on Nov. 29 - one on Frederic Avenue in South Floral Park and another on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont.
