Crimes Nearby: Stolen Med Supplies, Merchandise and Assault

A look at crimes in the towns surrounding Mineola.

The following arrest information was supplied by several local police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

A doctor’s 55-year-old business partner was arrested and charged with the theft of medical supplies and a liposuction from the doctor’s Glen Cove office. The medical supplies and equipment were recovered in storage in New Hyde Park.

Westbury

Police closed Old Country Road and Irving Avenue for 15 minutes on February 6 for an investigation.

Over $1,000 in cash was stolen in front of a dry cleaners at 199 Westbury Avenue on February 7. Perpetrators fled in an unknown direction. It was unknown if a weapon was used in the robbery.

A motor vehicle accident occurred at Glen Cove Road and I U Willets Road on February 8.

A Garden City man was arrested on charges of stealing over $200,000 in merchandise while working as a clerk at the  in the Roosevelt Field Store and selling it on eBay.

A 31-year-old Garden City man was  in connection with several vehicle break-ins that occurred at ,  and a village parking lot. At each of these incidents, a window to a parked vehicle was broken and pocketbooks and other items of value were stolen. The detectives were also able to recover some of the stolen property at the subject’s residence.

An officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Tannerspond Road on February 5 when he stopped a vehicle for passing a Stop sign at Newmarket Road. The driver, a female 16-year-old from Mineola, was issued an appearance ticket for the possession of two alcohol beverages. In addition she was issued traffic tickets for the Stop sign violation, no seatbelt and uninsured operation. 

A 45-year-old West Hempstead man was arrested on February 1 in Lakeview by Rockville Centre Police. He was charged with second-degree assault, third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer, reckless endangerment, driving while intoxicated, failure to yield to a police vehicle, reckless driving, unlicensed operator, and failure to maintain lane, following a police investigation that began at Lakeview Avenue and Hempstead Avenue in Rockville Centre.
