Mineola

An armed robbery was reported in the parking lot of the CVS at 354 East Jericho Turnpike on December 23 at about 11:30 p.m. Police state that a male and female victim went to sell personal items including a cell phone and an iPad via the internet but when they arrived they were robbed by two suspects who didn’t feel like paying.

Westbury

A car overturned on the northbound ramp to the westbound side of the Wantagh State Parkway on December 24 at 10:37 a.m.  Injuries were reported at the scene.

The westbound side of the Northern State Parkway was closed at exit 32 due to an overturned auto on December 24 at 6:49 p.m. It was reopened at 7:06 p.m. 

A robbery occurred in Westbury on December 26, 2013 at 2:19 p.m. According to detectives, A white male subject 6’3”- 6’5” tall, 170 lbs, wearing a knit pattern ski cap, tan hooded jacket, beige/black scarf, jeans, and white sneakers entered into the Bethpage Federal Credit Union located at 750 Old Country Road and passed a note to the 23 year old male teller stating he had a gun and demanded cash. After the teller complied the subject fled out the door with an undetermined amount of US currency and was last seen running south on Westbury Drive. There were no injuries reported. There were 6 employees and 2 customers in the bank. Detectives request that anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at the Bethpage Federal Credit Union at 750 Old Country Road on December 26 at 2:11 p.m. According to police, a white male 6’3” – 6’ 5” in height, mid 20s, 170 lbs, a tan hooded jacket, blue pants, knit cap with design, white sneakers, beige/black checkered scarf, black racing glasses. Police say that the suspect entered the bank, took a transaction slip from the counter, wrote out note and then proceeded to victim teller. The subject handed the teller a note stating the subject had a gun. The teller handed the subject an undetermined amount of cash. The subject took the cash and fled on foot southbound from the parking lot on Westbury Drive. Detectives request that anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

Old Westbury

All lanes of the westbound side of the Long Island Expressway were closed at exit 41 due to an auto accident on December 26 at 7:08 a.m. They were reopened at 8:14 a.m.

Jericho

A bank robbery occurred on December 28, 2013 at 9:42 a.m. in Jericho. According to detectives, two unknown male subjects, entered Citibank located at 1 Robbins Lane and verbally announced a robbery. The subjects exited the bank in an unknown direction after taking an undetermined amount of US currency.  The subjects are described as male blacks, 20 years of age, wearing dark clothing, masks and gloves. There were 5 employees and 1 customer present at the time of the robbery. Woodbury

A two-car accident occurred at 8325 Jericho Turnpike on December 26 at 2:09 p.m. One of the cars overturned with four persons reported aided.

Franklin Square

A robbery occurred on December 26, 2013 at 6:24 p.m. in Franklin Square. According to detectives, a male white subject, approximately 40-50 years of age, wearing a black mask and black hooded sweat shirt entered Angel Nail and Spa, located at 679 Hempstead Turnpike. He displayed a black handgun and demanded the money from the register. The female victim, 43 years of age, complied with the demand and the subject fled with an undetermined amount of cash eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike. Garden City

On Dec. 19 officers responded to the Nissan vehicle storage facility on Stewart Avenue where it was reported that three subjects stole a vehicle. The vehicle was stopped in the vicinity of the yard, and the subjects attempted to flee the area on foot. One of the subjects, a 17-year-old from Hempstead, was apprehended at the scene. A second subject, another 17-year-old from Hempstead, was arrested by Garden City detectives on Dec. 20. Both subjects were charged with grand larceny and possession of stolen property.

On December 22 as a result of a suspicious person investigation at Lord & Taylor, Officer Russell arrested a 32-year-old woman from Queens for an active probation warrant and an active petit larceny warrant.

A West Hempstead man who reportedly set shoppers into chaos on Christmas Eve has been charged with petit larceny, according to Nassau County Police. Officials said Aaron Darby, 19, of West Hempstead, was charged with failing to pay for merchandise at Macy's in Roosevelt Field Mall Tuesday.
