Crimes Nearby: Underage Drinking, House Burglaries and Stolen Catalytic Converters

A look at crimes in the towns surrounding Mineola.

The following arrest information was supplied by several local police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate convictions.

Catalytic converters were stolen from three separate cars on July 12, 13 and 15.

A 31-year-old female from Bellerose for the theft of a gown and a dress valued at $658 from Lord & Taylor.

Officers issued appearance tickets to three 17-year-old Garden City males for the possession of alcohol (beer) on July 12. The officers observed these violations upon responding to the area for calls of excessive noise violations.

The police department is investigating a burglary that occurred at a Nassau Boulevard residence on July 19. A screen to a basement window was apparently removed. A lap top computer valued at $700 was found missing from a bedroom. The investigation is continuing.

The IHOP restaurant on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead was reportedly burglarized on the night of July 17.

Police officers reportedly observed two men working at separate stores on Meacham Avenue in Elmont sell alcoholic beverages to underage customers on July 13.

A home on Gehrig Avenue in Franklin Square was burglarized on the night of July 13. The victim reported that copper wiring had been removed from the house.

A home on Irving Street in North Valley Stream was burglarized at some point between July 3 and July 15.
