Downed Tree Limb Causes Delays on Jericho Turnpike

Motorists are advised to avoid intersection of Herricks Road and Jericho Turnpike.

Motorists traveling on Jericho Turnpike near the Herricks Road intersection are advised to avoid the area for the next few hours as a downed tree limb has brought traffic to a crawl.

High winds, some reported reaching as high as 50 mph, have been the cause for many tree limbs breaking or causing damage to property.

Cars were backing up Eastward along Jericho Turnpike as traffic is being forced into one lane in order to avoid the tree limb near the restaurant.  were at the scene helping to control traffic and a crew from the Town of North Hempstead arrived shortly thereafter to begin cleaning up the downed limb.
