Mineola Crime Blotter: Hit and Run, Slashed Tires and Shoplifters

Third Precinct police responded to the following calls January 9 – 16 in Mineola.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department Third Precinct. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Mineola


Jan. 15: Police arrested Ruben Benitez of Mineola at the Target at 999 Corporate Drive in Westbury at 10:15 p.m. on shoplifting charges.

New Hyde Park


Jan. 9: A hit-and-run occurred at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike and Covert Avenue at 1:30 p.m. The victims reported that while they were crossing the above listed intersection on foot, an unknown grey SUV (possibly a Toyota Camry) struck them and then fled without stopping. 
Jan. 11: An unknown suspect slashed all four tires of a victim's car on Washington Avenue between 1:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Jan. 11: An unknown suspect stole 35 shirts from a rack inside the New York & Co. store at 1436 Union Turnpike in North New Hyde Park between 3:30 p.m. and 3:50 p.m.
Jan. 12: Police arrested Patricia Meyers of Fresh Meadows at the Pathmark at 2335 New Hyde Park Road in North New Hyde Park at 9:35 p.m. on shoplifting charges.
Jan. 15: Police arrested Nasrin Jahan of North New Hyde Park at the Sears at 1400 Union Turnpike in North New Hyde Park at 1 p.m. on shoplifting charges.
