Mineola Fire Department Officers Sworn In for 2012

On Monday April 9, members of the conducted their annual officer installation ceremony at fire department headquarters on Washington Avenue.

Honorary Chief Stephen Stolarik Sr. called the department to order and lead in the 2012 department and line officers.

Mayor and ex-Chief administered the oath of office to the company officers, wardens and junior fire department officers. The mayor then called upon First Assistant Chief Jeffrey Clark and Second Assistant Chief Leonard Schmitt to be sworn in to their as their families stood by.

Chief Joseph Pratt was the final officer to be sworn in, also to his second year as chief of the department. Chief Pratt was joined by his sons Cory and Ryan, his fiancee Ann-Marie and her son Michael.

Born and raised in Mineola, Pratt is a member of the graduating class of 1980 at . He joined Engine Company No. 1 of the Mineola Fire Department in 1980 and has been a member of that company for the past 32 years. Before joining engine company No. 1, Pratt was also a member and officer of the Mineola Junior Fire Department for several years. He has served the department in various capacities including lieutenant and captain of Company No. 1. Pratt has owned a home in Mineola for the past 25 years.
