The Mineola Junior Fire Department held its 11th Annual Installation of Officers on April 27, 2013. With a large attendance of visiting dignitaries, firefighters, and families of the junior firefighters present, Captain Daniel Dempsey, Lieutenants Chase Pagnani, Brendan Corringan and Jonmichael Schiavone were sworn in by Mayor Scott Strauss.

The highlight of the night was when Brendan Corrigan was named the 2013 Mineola Junior Firefighter of the Year. As recipient of the award, Brendan received many accolades with proclamations and plaques from public officials and local organizations.

Corrigan is an exemplary member of the Mineola Junior Fire Department who is always willing to lend a helping hand. When there is work to be done Brendan is close by; whether it be cooking, cleaning, or anything in between, he is the go to junior. He has organized fundraising events and is a well-respected member among his peers. You can count on him to go above and beyond what he is called to do to get the job done. Besides being very involved with the fire department, Corrigan is an assistant teacher of religious education at Corpus Christi and is the altar server for Corpus Christi Church.

Awards also went out to ex-Captain Matt Barroca, top point members Chase Pagnani, Matt Barroca, Louie Athan, Maddy Wolf, and Daniel Dempsey.

Special awards went out to Anthony Marmo, Matt Barroca, and Chase Pagnanias their time in the junior fire department is coming to an end. They will become members of the Mineola Fire Department this summer.
