Mineola Man Arrested for Selling Alcohol to a Minor in Hempstead

Kalpeshkumar Patel allegedly sold alcohol to underage agent at Hempstead grocery.

Nassau County Police and the Hempstead Police Department said they have arrested 10 individuals Wednesday during a “Project 21” initiative, which targets the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors. 

Out of the 10 arrests Wednesday, two of the them occurred in West Hempstead, with the other eight in Hempstead, according to police. 

Police said that defendant Kalpeshkumar Patel, 29, of Mineola, sold alcohol to a minor from the Fast Deli and Grocery at 478 South Franklin St. in Hempstead.

Other individuals arrested came from the communities of Hempstead, Freeport, Elmont, West Hempstead, Queens Village, East Meadow and Howard Beach.

The arrests were made with the assistance of an underaged agent, police said.

All of the defendants were issued Appearance Tickets and will appear at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013.
