Mineola Police Beat July 25 – 31: Fire Hydrant Burglars Arrested

Nassau Third Precinct detectives have arrested two homeless men for allegedly breaking into multiple homes in New Hyde Park, Mineola, Thomaston and Greenvale. The month-long crime spree lasted from May 2 – June 2 and involved the use of a fire hydrant cap, which the suspects allegedly threw through the glass doors of seven businesses and made off with the contents of the cash registers. The suspects were arrested on Wednesday and are being arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on seven counts each of third degree burglary.
