Mineola School Board Meeting Interrupted by Fire Alarm

Fire alarm reportedly caused by faulty smoke head.

The Mineola Board of Education had an interruption on Thursday night at the Willis Avenue School when a fire alarm went off during the meeting.

Mineola Fire Department volunteers arrived at the scene when the klaxon first sounded at about 8:50 p.m. The building was evacuated orderly with a delay of about 20 minutes while Mineola firefighters investigated the alarm which reportedly was caused by a faulty smoke head in the multipurpose room of the school building.

The all-clear signal was given shortly after 9 p.m. and the public was allowed back inside the building to resume the meeting.
