Police: Man Hit by Car on Jericho Turnpike in Mineola Thursday

A 59-year old man was hit by a car on Jericho Turnpike near Nassau Boulevard on Thursday afternoon in Mineola according to Nassau County Police.
Detectives report that at about 12:50 p.m. on Aug. 22, a 20-year old man driving a 2012 Toyota south on Nassau Boulevard was making a left turn eastbound onto Jericho Turnpike when he struck the man who was standing in the road.
The pedestrian suffered a severe head trauma and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment and is listed in critical condition. Detectives report no apparent criminality with the accident at this time. The vehicle passed all safety inspections at the scene.
