Rash of Racist Graffiti Hits Mineola Over Weekend

Nazi imagery and racist terms found at Chaminade and Memorial Park, among other places.

Nassau County Police are investigating a rash of graffiti around Mineola, including defacement of and Nazi imagery.

According to detectives, offensive graffiti including swastikas, “666” and a racist term were spray painted in red on the walls of Chaminade High School. A bus owned by the school was also defaced.

  • The reference date 03/09/88-05/02/11 and swastikas were found at .
  • A sign at the northeast corner of Roslyn Road and Old Country Road was found to have an orange swastika spray-painted on it.
  • The door of an apartment building at 135 Third Ave. was spray painted with a swastika in orange and red.
  • The word “Outlaws” was found spray painted on the wall of 250 Harrison Ave.
  • Orange and red swastikas were spray painted on the walls of .
  • On Albertson Place, a 1999 Dodge van was discovered with an orange swastika spray painted on it.
  • A 2009 BMW on Third Street was found spray painted with a swastika.
  • On Marcellus Road, a phallic symbol and a symbol resembling a pentagram were found spray painted in orange and red on a 2000 Chevrolet.
  • A trailer generator at 60 Main St. had swastikas and the word “Outlaw” spray painted on it in orange.
  • The word “Outlaw” was spray painted in orange on the wall of .

Police say that the aggravated harassment incidents occurred between Friday, February 10 at 11 p.m. and Saturday, February 11 at 1 p.m.

According to Chaminade Principal Bro. Joseph Belizzi, S.M., the graffiti was located on one of the pillars at the intersection of Saville Road and Jericho Turnpike and the school was the first to report the incident at about 7 a .m. Saturday morning. The graffiti was removed by crews by about 12 p.m. Saturday. No traces of graffiti were found on surrounding business or in Memorial Park.
