SUV Overturns on Mineola Home’s Lawn, Blocks Herricks Road Traffic

A 19-year-old female driver was treated for minor injuries; no one in home was injured.

A 19-year-old woman overturned her vehicle onto the front lawn of a Mineola home Wednesday afternoon, closing Herricks Road for almost an hour, according to .

The accident occurred at 426 Herricks Road, near the triangular intersection of Herricks and White Road at about 4:58 p.m., with the SUV turned over on its passenger side on the front lawn of the property.

According to Lou Minutoli, a photographer at the scene, the driver lost control of the vehicle while she was heading southbound on Herricks Road. The vehicle crossed two lanes of oncoming northbound traffic, went over the curb, knocked over a fire hydrant, then overturned into a nearby driveway.

Members of the arrived at the scene to help extract the driver from the vehicle.

According to police, the female driver was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

There were no injuries reported to the occupants of the house and no charges were filed at this time. No signs of damage to the house were present.
