SWAT Team Called on Man Barricaded in Albertson Home

Jeffrey Anlyan allegedly threatens to kill himself and mother.

SWAT teams were called to an Albertson home Monday night after a 45-year-old man after allegedly threatened his mother and himself while in violation of probation, Nassau County Police said.

According to officers from the , Jeffrey S. Anlyan approached his 73-year-old mother as she was walking her dog on Oakridge Lane at 7:55 a.m. Monday, becoming involved in an altercation and threatening to kill her.

He then pushed the victim back to her residence on Netz Place where he entered the home without permission, retrieving a dagger, folding knife and motor scooter keys before fleeing on the motor scooter to his Hilltop Place home, which is owned by his mother.

When officers arrived at the Hilltop Place residence and observed Anlyan armed with the knife, he threatened to kill himself and officers. Police then set up a perimeter around the home, requesting assistance.

Anlyan then allegedly lit an open gas line inside the home, causing an explosion and damaging the structure. He also continued to threaten officers when the Nassau County Hostage Negotiation Team, Electronics Squad, Emergency Services Unit and Bureau of Special Operations responded to the scene.

Upon exiting a room at 6:30 p.m., the suspect then threatened officers with what appeared to be a gun wrapped in a shirt. Officers responded by using a stunning device to subdue the suspect, placing him under arrest and transporting him to for injuries sustained when he attempted to blow up the house. He is currently listed in stable condition.

Anlyan had an open warrant for Probation Violation and had violated a Nassau County First District Court order of protection when he performed a criminal act against the victim.

He is also charged with first degree criminal mischief, third degree arson, second degree burglary, third degree robbery, first degree reckless endangerment, third degree criminal possession of a weapon, first degree, criminal contempt, second degree menacing and violation of probation.  He will be arraigned at the hospital at a later date. No mug shot is available as the suspect is still admitted to the hospital.
