UPDATE: Three Mineola Teens Arrested in Stolen Jewelry Investigation

The stolen jewelry was valued at more than $6,000.

Three Mineola teens were arrested Monday night for allegedly stealing jewelry and selling it to a gold store in Carle Place.

According to Nassau County detectives, while studying crime patterns in the area, the Third Precinct Asset Forfeiture/Intelligence Crime Analyst discovered that Jeffrey Tomaz, 19, had sold stolen jewelry to Cash for Gold at 215 Glen Cove Road in Carle Place on numerous occasions.

The value of the jewelry was in excess of $6,000, police said.

An investigation by the Third Precinct revealed that two 17-year-olds from Mineola had stolen the jewelry from friends and relatives and turned the proceeds over to Tomaz, police said.

The two 17-year-old defendants were each charged with grand larceny in the third degree.

In addition, one of the 17-year-old defendants has been charged with burglary in the second degree. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.

Tomaz was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree.

All the defendants were arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday.
