Two Mineola Men Arrested for Robbing Pedestrian
Joel and Noe DeJesus Salmeron allegedly robbed man walking near Willis and Washington Avenue.
have arrested two Mineola men for allegedly robbing a man as he walked early Monday morning at about 5 a.m.
According to detectives, the male victim, 38, was walking in the vicinity of Willis and Washington Avenues when he was grabbed from behind and hit in the head by the two defendants. The defendants then forcefully removed the victim’s iPhone and an undetermined amount of US currency and fled the scene.
The investigation revealed that the victim and the defendants know each other from the neighborhood.

The iPhone was recovered but the US currency was not.
Police arrested defendant Joel Salmeron, 21, on Willis Avenue and Noe DeJesus Salmeron, 22, at his home.

Joel Salmeron is charged with second degree robbery and criminal possession of a controlled substance. Defendant Noe De Jesus Salmeron is charged with second degree robbery and second degree possession of a forged instrument. Both defendants are to be arraigned on August 14 in First District Court in Hempstead.
