Woman Arrested for Sexual Contact with Underaged Youth

Defendant surrendered to Nassau County Police Thursday night.

Special Victims Unit Detectives have arrested of an Oceanside woman in Mineola for allegedly having sexual contact with an underage boy.

According to detectives, Stephanie Finnerty, 43, of 3959 Greentree Drive, Oceanside, had sexual contact with a South Shore youth under the age of eighteen within Nassau County between June 2009 and November 2009.

Finnerty surrendered to Detectives at Nassau County Police Headquarters on Thursday night and was charged with two counts of committing a criminal sexual act in the third degree, a Class E felony under the New York State law.

A person is guilty of criminal sexual act in the third degree when he or she engages in sexual conduct with a person who is incapable of consent by reason or is less than seventeen years old.

The penalty for committing a class E felony is between three and four years in prison.
