The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter will be waiving all adoption fees from Nov. 22, 2013 to Jan. 5, 2014 during the shelter's annual "Home for the Holidays" pet adoption program. There will also be a holiday event at the shelter on Saturday, Dec. 14. For more on the Animal Shelter, click here.
Andrew Alderman of East Meadow was among 12 Long Islanders the Town of Hempstead recognized during its 17th annual "Make A Difference" awards ceremony Nov. 12. The Nassau County Department of Social Services and Nassau County Family Court, in partnership with the Long Island Children’s Museum, will participate in National Adoption Day on Monday, Nov. 18. The ceremony will take place at the Long Island Children’s Museum in Garden City beginning at 10 a.m., where the adoptions of 13 children in foster care will be finalized. The Long Island Philharmonic will be performing in Nassau County’s “Holiday Spectacular” concert on Sunday, Dec. 1 at the Butler Building at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Garden City.
