By Adina Genn

Dina De Giorgio, R-Port Washington, told Patch she is running for North Hempstead town supervisor in November.

De Giorgio will announce her candidacy Thursday evening at H on the Harbor on Main Street in Port Washington.

She currently serves as a North Hempstead councilwoman, to which she was elected after defeating Democrat Fred Pollack, in 2011.

Referring to previous mentions of North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman as a frontrunner to head Long Island Power Authority around the time of Hurricane Sandy, and his prior consideration to run as county executive, De Giorgio told Newsday, "I don't think that Jon Kaiman wants the job anymore, and I do.”

No word yet on who else is vying for the town supervisor spot, though a spokesman for the North Hempstead Democratic Committee told Newsday that the party lineup would be revealedon May 28 – the date of Nassau’s Democratic convention.
