Hurricane Relief Trailer Placed in Mineola

Trailer staged in Supreme Court parking lot to supply cots, blankets, and toiletries to residents.

As part of the changes since Hurricane Sandy, the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has placed a fully equipped Disaster Response and Relief Trailer in Mineola in the parking lot to the south of the NY State Supreme Court complex.

“The location of the trailer in Mineola provides central access for our residents living in the Mineola, Carle Place, East Williston and Williston Park communities. In the event of catastrophe, we anticipate having the Disaster Recovery and Relief Trailer at that lot will serve as an easy point of access for crucial recovery and relief resources,” Nassau Executive Ed Mangano said in a statement.

The primary function of the Disaster Recovery and Relief Trailer is to ensure the immediate availability to vital resources needed to provide first aid, shelter and hygiene to residents and Emergency First Responders in the event of future health and environmental hazards resulting from extreme weather events, including flooding or gale force winds, as well as fire, gas leaks, and various other incidents that may place area residents at risk.
