Martins' Plea for LI Bus Backup Gains Support from Nassau Legislator

According to a Newsday report, Legis. John Ciotti, R-Valley Stream, has indicated “that he would vote against any bus contract that includes fare increases or service cuts.”

Ciotti currently sits on the legislature’s rules committee which holds sway over contracts and could be the swing vote among the other six members which are split evenly among Democrats and Republicans.

According to Nassau County, a contract between the county and Illinois-based Veoila Transportation is ready to be signed to operate the bus. The contract between the county and the MTA expires at the end of 2011.
