McCarthy Nominates Two Chaminade Students to U.S. Service Academies

recently announced her office’s appointees to the various U.S. military service academies, such as the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in Nassau County and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

A total of 10 nominees from the fourth congressional district were appointed after a rigorous application and interview process looking at various factors like academic performance and extra-curricular activities.

“These young men and women, along with our current forces serving around the globe, are our next Greatest Generation – smart, patriotic, brave, and selfless,” Rep. McCarthy said in a statement. “Their examples bring confidence that our nation is in good hands for the future.”

The list of nominees include John Atkinson of Garden City and Stephen McGuire of East Rockaway, both of whom are graduates and will enroll in the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in the fall.

United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point
