McCarthy Speaker at Mineola Kiwanis Meeting

Congresswoman speaks economy and bipartisanship With Kiwanis Club of County Seat.

Rep. met with members of the recently to talk about measures to improve the economy, her bipartisan approach to Congress and volunteerism.

During her recent meeting, Rep. McCarthy praised Kiwanis members for raising money for Camp Kiwanis for underprivileged local children, as well for raising funds for the pediatric trauma center at .

She also spoke about bipartisanship in Washington, DC, saying that “I’m sure most of you, whether you’re Democrats or Republicans, care first and foremost about your families and your communities and your homes and doing what’s best for them. To this day, I don’t look at issues from a Democratic or a Republican perspective – I look at what’s a good idea, what’s good for the economy, what’s good for our kids and their futures, what’s good for seniors.”

Rep. McCarthy, a member of the financial services committee, spoke about her legislative efforts to bring more assistance to small businesses on Long Island and to ensure that New York’s financial industry remains strong even as we seek to protect consumers from fraudulent practices.

She also expressed support for a comprehensive energy policy that seeks to expand use of domestic sources while ensuring environmental protections on American land and waters.
