Mineola Board Celebrates Trustee’s 50th Birthday

Mineola Village Board Trustee George Durham celebrated his 50th birthday this past Wednesday night – at a board meeting on July 10.

While mayor Scott Strauss and Durham’s fellow trustees poked some fun at having to spend the milestone at village hall, they and the village staff did produce a chocolate cake commemorating the event at the conclusion of the meeting.

“Congratulations, George on hitting the half-century mark,” Strauss said, joining other board members in wishing Durham happy returns of the day.

Also sharing Durham’s birthday – but not present at the meeting – was Strauss’s wife Patricia.

“I offered to take (her) here to the meeting so we could celebrate together but for some unknown reason she decided not to,” Strauss said.

A private birthday celebration was also held for Durham a couple of weeks ago as well.
