Mineola Completes Major Cleanup Efforts After Hurricane Sandy

Leaf removal and street sweeping to begin shortly.

All major public cleanup efforts in the Village of Mineola are complete according to an e-mail blast sent out by village officials.

The e-mail states that trees have been removed from streets and homes, debris has been cleared, and the village has begun secondary cleanup efforts. Leaf removal and street sweeping will also commence shortly.

Street repairs and other infrastructure repairs will be addressed as post-emergency operations allow.

Although the village hall has been closed since Monday, phones have been staffed throughout and since the storm.

Phones will continue to be staffed 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday regardless of whether village hall is open.

Still have BIG branches dangling from the tree in front of 132 Wardwell Road as well as a dislodged wire drooping way down blocking the front entrance to my neighbor's home. She's a senior citizen and still w/o power to part of her house. This tree is old and is always dropping branches. The DPW has been to this home in the past. I called the situation in to Village Hall for my neighbor. PLEASE SEND A CREW TO CUT BACK/CUT DOWN THESE HANGING BRANCHES !! Thank you, I know how hard you all are working but the village has been notified and now the liability for any injuries from this tree goes directly to VOM.
