Mineola Village Board Notebook: March 14

The Mineola  held a meeting on Wednesday, March 14. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

Village Website

  • Village clerk Joseph Scalero reported that March 14 was the first “major training day” for the as developers trained staff on how to use the new website.
  • “It’s very easy to use,” Scalero said, adding that the improvements would make it much easier to add content and update items in the future.
  • Scalero said that the site “is very or at least a large enough percentage that it’s worth going live,” cautioning that some links would not be complete as information is added.
  • “This will have everything working, everything functional,” he said, speculating that a demo presentation might me made to the board during one of the April meetings. “After that’s done it should only be a very short time, a matter of weeks before we go live.”
  • Scalero stated that he did not know if the would be ready by the time the new site were to go live “because we’re still in the .”
  • The site may go live with an older version of the code which will then be removed and replaced with the updated digital codebook.

  • The requested the use of for their annual fourth grade picnic on Wednesday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with a raindate of June 7.
  • The Mineola Portuguese Center requested use of Wilson Field for its annual carnival from Friday, June 8 to Sunday, June 10 and the adjacent soccer field Saturday, June 9 to Sunday, June 10.
  • The Mineola School District will hold its special education summer program at the from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on the following Mondays: July 9, July 16, July 23, July 30, August 6.
  • A request for a 100-day extension on a building permit issued to Polimeni International, LLC for the apartment building was granted. According to village attorney John Spellman the group is still in the process of developing their construction plans. The village code does allow for the board to extend permits at 6-month intervals.
