The Mineola  held a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Here are some of the things you may have missed.

Parking Garage

  • The board considered a request to reassign a lease of the parking garage at 200 Old Country Rd. to a new owner.
  • The current owner is in contract to sell the building and had requested that the board approve the ground lease affecting the parking garage.
  • Before being built, the village negotiated with the developer/ owner for the land under the parking garage, which contained 150 parking spaces at that time.
  • Through negotiations the village gained a total of 300 indoor spaces, monthly rental and an obligation to pay taxes on the structure from the owner.
  • Village attorney John Spellman said that there were no current tax concerns with the property and that “each and every obligation will be assumed by the new owner.”

The board approved a request from the to hold its St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 4, 2012 at 1 p.m.
