At the start of the 2013 Nassau County Legislative Session, Legis. Richard Nicolello, R – New Hyde Park, was appointed as the new Deputy Presiding Officer of the Nassau County Legislature in Mineola.
This position carries increased responsibilities within the legislative majority caucus and full legislature. Nicolello is one of five remaining legislators who were the elected to the first legislature.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Presiding Officer Norma Gonsalves for selecting me as her Deputy Presiding Officer,” Nicolello said in a statement. “As I continue to represent the residents of the 9th District in this new leadership role, I look forward to working more closely with the Presiding Officer to assist Nassau County through its fiscal crisis.”
