Question of the Day: Debris on LIRR Tracks

Schumer wants safety investigation over complaints about debris striking cars, private property.

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., came to Mineola Monday to take up complaints that uncovered freight cars are transporting loose debris on the Long Island Rail Road.

Some residents have complained that the debris has damaged residents' cars and ended up on private property. Schumer wants the Federal Railroad Administration to look into th complaints as a safety issue.
