Replacement POW Flag Presented to Village

Mineola American Legion presents two flags to village board.

For the past several meetings of the , American Legion Commander Sal Cataldo has asked for the whereabouts of the POW-MIA flag that hung in the .

Following reports that the flag could not be located anywhere in the , Cataldo and Bill Urianek presented a replacement POW-MIA flag to the village as well as an American flag known as the “Flag of Heroes” since it bares the names of all the first responders who perished on September 11.

“We treasure that flag too,” Cataldo said, referring to the Flag of Heroes.

“Its a great honor to get it,” said Mineola , a first responder himself, last Wednesday during the regular meeting of the village board.

Both flags will be hung and displayed in village hall.
