Resident Questions Repair Status of Roslyn Road Lights

According to Mayor Strauss, eight lamps had been suffering from a power issue.

To one resident of the Village of Mineola, the Roslyn Road underpass had been looking a lot darker during the beginning of May.

Identifying herself as a walker who passes by the underpass sometimes at night, the resident stated during last Wednesday’s meeting of the that 10 lights were out along the underpass at the beginning of May.

“I don’t know why it took over a month to get those 10 streetlights fixed,” the woman said.

“It wasn’t they went up and replaced the bulbs, they had to track down and trace a power issue,” Strauss said, adding that he did not know why the work took a month to complete.

Upon receipt of a repair notice the village notifies the contractor who “takes a couple of days to schedule it,” according to the mayor. “They don’t have crews waiting for calls to come in, they’re handling other villages and other areas.”

Strauss added that during his inspection Tuesday night, there was only one light out.
