“I met with the owner to see if he was willing to negotiate in accordance with the Town’s goals, which would be to preserve open space, a community pool and tennis facilities,” Kaiman said. “We are moving, however, in a positive direction.”

Councilman Thomas Dwyer added that he has received several letters about this issue; some in favor and some opposed to the plan. He agreed with Kaiman that more time is needed to sort this out.

A Town spokesperson said if the Town does not take over the property, it is hard to say what can happen to it.

“Right now this is an ongoing issue, but the good news is if the Town takes over the Country Club will still have use of a local swimming pool at the facility,” he said. “This will be ongoing until all details are finalized.”

For residents who wanted a chance to voice their opinion, Kaiman said, “Any resident that wants to discuss this matter before September 27 can reach out to him or Councilman Dwyer to discuss this. If there is a resolution earlier than this date, then the community will be notified.”
